St Peter & St Paul 60th Anniversary Weekend
The Church of St Peter and St Paul 60th Anniversary Weekend October 13-14th 2018
Celebrating the past, embracing the future
This year we celebrate 60 years since St Peter & St Paul Church was consecrated and became an important part of the North Hinksey and Botley community. To mark this event Bishop Steven Croft, Bishop of Oxford, will preside over a special service.
The story of our church is one of faith, hope, painful delays, seemingly insurmountable difficulties and the effort of the community to raise the money to build it. The very first donation of a sliver three-penny-piece bearing the date of 1914 was, in fulfilment of a promise given to the donor, placed under the foundation stone of the new church on 14th September 1957. Since then the church building has been a constant in our community, sometimes busier and more important than at other times. We are proud of our church and that our Christian lives are shaped around loving God and loving our neighbours, and this has never been more important than now when we are seeing so much change in our community.
We would like to invite you to join us in celebrating our building and celebrating Botley at two special events:
Saturday 13th October - 10am -4pm
Wedding Event: Getting married at your local church, floral dsiplays by our talented volunteer arrangers, weddings advice from Revd Clare Sykes, live wedding music (classical and modern), refreshments, Exhibition by Martin Harris 'Celebrations, 60 years of weddings; 6 decades of dresses.
