St Frideswide Choir
St Frideswide's has a small but thriving adult choir which plays an important role in the life and worship of the church. We aim to continue the English choral tradition by leading the singing of the hymns and mass at the Sunday morning Eucharist, and singing an anthem during communion.
In addition we sing at occasional extra services such as Choral Evensong or Advent Carols during the year, and also perform at concerts, giving the opportunity to explore the choral repertoire more widely. The church has a fantastic acoustic which lends itself to singing very well.
The choir includes people of different backgrounds and ages and is very welcoming to newcomers. There are no auditions - just come along to a rehearsal and join in the singing. The only requirement is that you enjoy choral music. Why not join us?
We understand that not everybody can attend every rehearsal or service and are happy to welcome those who need to balance family or work commitments with their singing. In fact, as we don’t have a mid-week rehearsal, we are the perfect choir for busy people! The Sunday rehearsal starts at 10.00 a.m. and the service begins at 10.30 a.m. ending at around 11.30 a.m., followed by sherry served at the back of the church.
