St Frideswide's

Botley Road, West Oxford

Who Are We?

We are the Anglican church serving the vibrant district of West Oxford and Osney Island.  We are part of the Osney Benefice, working in partnership with our next door neighbour parish, North Hinksey & Botley.

St Frideswide’s is dedicated to the patroness of Oxford. Since our church was founded in the nineteenth century, we have built up Christians in the faith through the celebration of the sacraments and the study of Holy Scripture.

You can learn more about out history here.

Sunday Worship

The church has a relaxed Anglo-Catholic tradition, and our regular worship is focused on the Eucharist.  We are a small, friendly, all-age congregation who welcome regular, sojourner and seeker alike. We aim to provide worship and learning opportunities that are inclusive to all and to that end are working hard to become more child and family friendly. You can learn about our choir here.

Please see the side panel on this page for our regular service times and other activities.

Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals

Our beautiful church is a public building, here for the community it serves.  If you live in our parish or have a connection with our parish, we welcome you to celebrate a baptism or to get married here. Our clergy are also available to conduct funeral services in the church or at the crematorium. Do contact us if we can help.

Music at St. Frideswide

The acoustics at St Frideswide are superb and it is in demand as a venue for concerts and recitals throughout the year. For more information about our musical tradition.

Services

A Service to Remember those we have loved
Sunday 5th November 6:00pm
The Christian celebration of All Saints Day and All Souls Day stems from the belief that there is a powerful spiritual bond between those in heaven and the living. This service is for all those who would like the space and time to remember loved ones.
